Prick Your Finger is a hub for people who care about textiles.
It currently functions as an on-line wool shop, school, pop-up gallery and artist’s initiative. Prick Your Finger was founded in 2007 as a response to the decline in British yarn manufacture, the limited courses of hand knitting and spinning in schools and colleges, and the devaluing of textile art in the art world.
All our yarns are made in the UK. The diverse range of textures and colours are made by small mills, and hand spinners and dyers, from across the British Isles.
Our pattern books are written by people we know and trust, and our library of vintage patterns can provide you with classic designs, corresponding with the yarns on offer.
The gallery and events program is curated to inspire new applications of our textile skills, opportunities to collect textile art, and our private views are ways of bringing like minded people together.
Prick Your Finger is run by Rachael Matthews, with help from Max Alexander, Celia Pym, Kalaina Hughes, Antranig Basman, and this website was built by Damjan Bogdanovich.
